All About Miss Jody

I was born on October 21st in Peoria Illinois to two of the greatest parents in the world. I grew up in a small town called Tremont and attended the local high school. Go Turks! After graduation I decided to attend a community college and pursue my dream of studying music. I trained vocally for three years and when it came time for me to transfer, my vocal coach sent me to a little university in the middle of Tennessee. After visiting MTSU one time I decided to make Murfreesboro my new home. Upon arrival to my new home I was blessed to be introduced to a wonderful man who is now my husband. Shea and I have been married for seven years and we just welcomed our precious son Liam into our family on March 24th 2009. It has been such a blessing to have Liam here at the center with me. HE is so blessed to have great teachers here at Stonebrook. They truly are a cut above the rest.

While attending MTSU I needed a job. I took a job working for La Petite at Opryland as a Pre-K teacher and immediately fell in love. It was then that I realized that working with children was my calling. I had never felt so happy and rewarded while working as when I was with children. I changed my major from music education to child development and family studies and never looked back. Since then I have worked for La Petite, and a small private center, both here in Murfreesboro, the YWCA in Pekin, Illinois, the First United Methodist church in Brentwood and finally Stonebrook.

I began working at Stonebrook in July of 2005 as a toddler teacher, while I was working on my degree at MTSU. Since then I have taught in just about every classroom we have. I consider Stonebrook my extended family and I have loved working here all these years. In 2007 I was asked to take over as the assistant director and I could not have been happier. I had just finished my bachelor's degree in child development and family studies in the summer of 2006 and this was just what I was looking for. Since then I have taken over as the director and I can easily say that I love my job. Stonebrook is my home and I cannot imagine working anywhere else. The families that I work with really are the reason I love my job.
