• What is a Tennessee D.H.S. three star facility and how has Stonebrook Day School rated over the years?
The Tennessee Star-Quality program recognizes child care providers who meet a higher standard of quality. Once qualified for this program, a provider can receive one, two, or three stars to place on its license and display in its center or home. Each star shows that the provider meets increasingly higher standards. In other words, the more stars a program has, the better the quality of care it offers to children. Stonebrook has consistently received the maximum, an overall 3 stars over the 8 years that we have been in operation.
  • Is Stonebrook Day School a corporate facility or franchise?
No! Our owners are a active part of the Murfreesboro community. In fact, our owner was our director for many years! Our owners are very involved in day to day activities. You will see them at many of our events as well as helping out in classrooms on any given day. They feel it is very important to get to know the families just as much as the teachers and directors do!
  • What hours can I drop off or pick up?
Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6am to 6pm. We ask that all parents have their children arrive at school no later than 9:00 am. If your child will not be arriving by 9:00 am we ask that you call the school and let us know. If your child will be absent for the day we ask that you also call the school no later than 9:00 am.
  • Can I sit in and observe my child’s classroom if I wish?
Absolutely! We encourage parents to spend as much time as they can in the classroom. We understand that leaving your child in someone else’s care is very difficult to do. Visiting will not only help your child feel more comfortable, but it will also help you feel more comfortable.
  • How are parents kept informed about their child’s progress?
Every day parents are given a daily report that tells you what your child learned in circle time and which learning centers he or she played in. It will also include what they ate for breakfast, lunch and pm snack as well as potty training information if needed. Parent teacher conferences are held throughout the year, but you are always welcome to schedule a conference with your teacher whenever you feel one is necessary.
  • Can Stonebeook Day School administer medication?
Regrettably we do not administer medications to children while in our care. It is expected that all children on medication will take either required dosage at home before and or after school hours consistent with their doctor’s instructions. In a case where it is necessary for a student to take a medication during school hours it will be the parent’s responsibility to administer the medication. However, we understand that there may be special circumstances when it is necessary for the school to administer the medication. Exceptions include Epi-pens, breathing treatments or life threatening conditions and will be considered on an individual basis by the director.
  • Are there any family events scheduled through out the year?
We consider all our events family events because we would love to see family members participate in all our events even the little ones like story time! We do plan special events for holidays we try to have open houses frequently throughout the year where family participation is always encouraged. These special events are planned in advanced and given out in a school wide schedule at the beginning of the school year so you can better plan your days off.
  • Do parents volunteer their time at Stonebrook Day School?
We know how busy your schedules can be but any time you can come in and spend some time in your child’s classroom is greatly appreciated and welcomed! We would love to see you any day of the week or month but to make it easier for you to schedule we have designated the last Friday of every month as parent volunteer day.
