Toddlers
Toddlers get special attention during these important developing years. Our staff has designed activities that will keep them active and involved throughout the day.
Our Toddler 1 Program is designed to meet the needs of the younger toddlers 12 months to 18 months old. Since most Toddlers at this age are developing their gross and fine motor skills we provide an environment that stimulates and allows them to engage in activities that encourage the development of these skills. Our teachers provide the interaction the toddlers need and crave at this age and encourage them to walk, explore and use their sensory skills. With smaller group ratios you can guarantee that your child will get the one on one care they desire along with the group setting that helps implement their social skills.
The Infant and Toddler 1 programs at Stonebrook Day School are Baby Signs® Program certified. Baby signing has been shown to help the infants and toddlers develop both language and cognitive skills. The Baby Signs® Program is based on the groundbreaking research which began an international movement to teach hearing babies to use signs. After 20 years of careful study, researchers proved that using signs actually enhances language, cognitive, and social-emotional development.
Our Toddler 2 Program is structured for the older toddlers 18 months to 24 months of age. Our classroom is developed to give our Toddlers an opportunity to explore their surroundings, fine tune their motor skills and develop confidence in themselves as well as in their environment. We begin introducing our academic program through weekly theme based activities, which encourages independence and creativity. Our teachers offer a wide variety of hands on activities, individual and group projects. Since toddler classroom ratios are small it offers more individual teacher to student time as well as the encouragement of a group setting as they continue to develop their social skills, through group play.
Twos
At Stonebrook Day School, our Two's program consists of thematic learning units, as well as a weekly focus on a letter, number, shape, color, and concept. Our two’s preschool teachers build on our program with hundreds of different learning activities that foster language and communication, cognitive skills, creativity, gross- and fine-motor skills, critical thinking skills, and personal and social skills which they work in to our weekly lesson plans.
In our 2-year old classroom, we have time for music, art, dancing, stories, and games. We have a time to stretch our muscles either inside or outside with large motor activities. Naps are also part of the children’s day.
Potty training is a very important part of the life of your two-year-old, thus, it is integrated into each of our two’s preschool classroom schedules. Our teachers work in connection with our parents to potty train each child.
Daily reports are available for parents at pick-up time, as well as oodles of artistic creations that you can decorate with on your refrigerator, walls, and workspace!
